From 9 to 12 May 2010, Mr. Libor Rou?ek, Vice President of the European Parliament, attended the official launch of the EU Day at Shanghai Expo and visited Chengdu and Urumqi. Ambassaor Cheng Tao, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, accompanied Mr. Rou?ek in Chengdu and Urumqi. Mr. Naiyimu Yasen, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, and Mr. Wang Dongzhou, Chairman of the Standing Committee ofthe People's Congress of Chengdu, met with Mr. Rou?ek. The two sides exchanged views on Sino-European relations and cooperation between the European Parliament and China’s national and local people’s congresses.
