At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Mr. Jean-Pierre Raffarin, former French Prime Minister, heading a French-China goodwill delegation, visited Beijing, Anhui and Shanghai from 6 to 13 June 2010. Mr. Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met with Mr. Raffarin at the Great Hall of the People on 7 June. The two sides exchanged views on Sino-French relations and cooperation between the NPC and the French Parliament.

       Mr. Raffarin was also received by Mr. Li Zhaoxing, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the NPC, Mr. Zhang Baoshun, Secretary of the Anhui Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Mr. Feng Guoqin, Chairman of Shanghai People's Political Consultative Conference, Ambassador Yang Wenchang, President of CPIFA, and Mr. Liu Jieyi, Vice Minister in charge of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. The delegation visited Shanghai Expo.
