The CPIFA working group led by Amb. Chen Yonglong, Vice President of the CPIFA visited the United States and Canada from May l0 to 21, 2010. During their stay in the United States, the group called on Dr. Kissinger, former Secretary of State, Mr. Cohen, former Defense Secretary, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Sen. Mark Begich, Rep. Michael McMahon and Rep. Carolyn Maloney; had discussions with Mr. Edwin Feulner, President of the Heritage Foundation, Mr. Kenneth Lieberthal, Director of John L. Thornton China Center at the Brookings Institution, Mr. David Lampton, Director of China Studies at Johns Hopkins University, Mr. David A. Metzner, Vice Chairman of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars; Ms. Vishakha Desai, President of the Asia Society, Pro. Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute, Columbia University, and scholars from the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs respectively; met with heads of the US-Asia Institute, US-Asia Foundation, US-China Policy Foundation, National Committee on US-China Relations and the Asian American Business Development Center; and visited Bloomerg News Agency. During their stay in Canada, the group paid visits to the Rt. Hon. Brian Mulroney, former Premier Minister and Rt. Hon. Jean Chrétien, former Premier Minister respectively and had roundtable discussions with scholars from the Canadian International Council and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. The two sides exchanged views on Sino-US, Sino-Canadian and other issues of common interests.
