Speaker of Samoa Visits China

       At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Hon. Tolofuaivalelei Falemoe, the Speaker of Legislative Assembly of Samoa, visited Shanghai, Xi’an and Beijing successively from Nov. 20 to 29, 2010. During the visit in Beijing, Mr. Chen Changzhi, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress met with him; Mr. Du Qiwen, Chinese Special Envoy to the China-Pacific Islands Forum Dialogue, and Mr. Chen Yonglong, Vice President of the CPIFA, met with and hosted banquets respectively in his honor. The two sides exchanged views on Sino-Samoan relations.

Tolofuaivalelei said that Samoa attaches great importance to Sino-Samoan relations. Besides being grateful for the economic and technical assistance provided by China to Samoa over the years, he expressed his hope that the mutually beneficial cooperation in fields of trade, tourism and cultural exchanges will be further deepened between the two countries. He reiterated that Samoa will continue to resolutely adhere to the one-China policy.
