The 5th China-Japan Forum Held in Tokyo

On Nov. 30th, Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and the Institute of International Policy Studies of Japan (IPS) jointly held the 5th China-Japan Forum in Tokyo. The Chinese Delegation led by Mr. Zhao Qizheng, Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of the 11th CPPCC National Committee and Amb. Lu Shumin, Vice-President of CPIFA, attended the forum. During their stay in Tokyo, Japanese Prime Minister Noda Yoshihiko met with the principal Chinese delegates, Japanese Former Prime Minister Nakasone Yasuhiro, Foreign Minister Genba Koichiro and Prime Minister Secretary on Defense Nagashima Akihisa attended the Welcoming Dinner or Opening Ceremony respectively and delivered remarks. Chairman Zhao Qizheng and Vice-President Lu Shumin also delivered remarks in the Welcoming Dinner and Opening Ceremony respectively.
Scholars and experts from both countries exchanged views thoroughly and sincerely on the following three Subjects: 1, How to Deepen China-Japan Strategic Relationship of Mutual Benefit; 2, Regional Cooperation of Eastern Asia in Globalization and the Future of Sino-Japan Relations; 3, Effective Ways to Strengthen People’s Mutual Understanding. Both sides agreed that the development of China is an opportunity for Japan, and the key to strategic mutual benefit lies in strategic mutual trust. Both sides need to make more efforts on practical cooperation and wide-range exchange, so as to improve the mutual understanding and the feelings among nationals of the two countries, and truly deepen the China-Japan strategic relationship of mutual benefit.
