Former US Treasury Secretary Mr. Henry Paulson Visits China

At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), a delegation led by Mr. Henry Paulson, Chairman of the Paulson Institute at the University of Chicago and former US Treasury Secretary, visited Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai successively from December 3 to 11, 2011. During the stay in Beijing, Vice Chairman Xi Jinping, Vice Primer Li Keqiang and Wang Qishan, Chairman Zeng Peiyan of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, Governor Zhou Xiaochuan of the People’s Bank of China, Minister Jia zhibang of the State Forestry Administration, First Secretary Lu Hao of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, Chairman Jiang Jianqing of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Chairman Xiao Gang of Bank of China, Chairman Fu Chengyu of China Petrochemical Corporation, Chairman Wang Yilin of China National Offshore Oil Corporation, either met with him or hosted banquets in Mr. Paulson’s honor. Mr. Paulson also attended the Conference of “Cities of the Future: Urban Sustainability in Modern China” and delivered a speech to Chinese young entrepreneurs at the Chinese Academy of Governance. During the stay in Chongqing, Party Secretary Bo Xilai met with Mr. Paulson and Mayor Huang Qifan hosted a dinner in Mr. Paulson’s honor. Mr. Paulson addressed the Seminar “City Finance---Sustainable Development Forum”. During the stay in Shanghai, Mr. Zhu Rongji met with Mr. Paulson and the Deputy Party Secretary Yin Yicui hosted a luncheon in Mr. Paulson’s honor.
