At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), a 5-member delegation of Suriname National Information Institute (NII) visited Beijing and Shanghai from June 9 to 15, 2018. The delegation was led by Ms. Minerva Blankendal, Deputy Director of NII and consisted of Director of the Department of Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Suriname.

During their visit in Beijing, Amb. Ou Boqian, Vice President of CPIFA, Mr. Hu Kaihong, Director-General of the News Bureau, State Council Information Office (SCIO), Mr. Wang Jialei, Deputy Director-General of the Bureau of Latin American Affairs, the International Department of CCCPC (IDCPC), Mr. Geng Shuang, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson and Mr. Han Jing, Counselor of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), met with the delegation. The delegation also attended the regular Press Conference of MFA. During the visit in Shanghai, Mr. Liu Guangyong, Deputy Director-General of the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office hosted banquet. The delegation also visited the Shanghai Media Group (SMG), Shanghai United Media Group (SUMG), SIASUN Robotics Automation Corporation and Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute (SADRI).

The two sides exchanged views on China-Latin American and Caribbean relations, China-Suriname relations, media cooperation and China’s development.
