The 24th China-ROK Elite Forum Successfully Held in Seoul

On August 27, 2024, the 24th China-ROK Elite Forum co-hosted by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and the 21st Century Korea-China Leaders Society (21C KCLS) was successfully held in Seoul. H.E. Wang Chao, President of CPIFA and Mr. Kim Hankyu, Chairman of 21C KCLS addressed the opening ceremony respectively. About 30 delegates from the two sides had candid and in-depth discussion on the topics of “The Developing Direction and Issues of China-ROK Relations after the 9th Trilateral Summit  Meeting among PRC, ROK and Japan” and “Prospects for China-ROK Economic and Trade Cooperation”. The Chinese delegation also met with H.E. Joo Ho-Young, Deputy Speaker of ROK National Assembly and H.E. Cho Tae-yul, Foreign Minister of ROK in Seoul. Mr. Kim Tae-nyeon, President of the ROK-China Parliamentarians' Union, Mr. Kim Seok-ki, Chairman of ROK Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee and Rep. Kim Young-bae were present at relevant meetings.
Wang Chao briefed the ROK side on the essence of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and stressed that guided by the consensus reached by the top leaders of the two countries, both sides should take the opportunity of the Third Plenary Session to promote the healthy and stable development of China-ROK relations. The ROK side expressed willingness to strengthen communication and cooperation with China to promote common development and prosperity, and maintain regional peace and stability.
The Chinese delegation includes Amb. Wang Yu, CPIFA Vice President, Amb. Ning Fukui, former Chinese Ambassador to ROK, Dr. Zhao Jinping, researcher of the Research Department of Foreign Economic Relations of Development Research Center of the State Council, Mr. Wanglei, Deputy Director-General of the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences(CASS), and other experts from CASS, the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce and the China Institute of International Studies. The ROK delegation includes current and former National Assembly members, former government officials, and representatives from academics and media.
