On May 14th, Mr. Wang Chao, President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), met with the delegation of the Central American Parliament?(Spanish: Parlamento Centroamericano-PARLACEN) led by its President Carlos Rene Hernandez Castillo.The two sides exchanged views on?issues of common concern, such as China-Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) relations,?China-PARLACEN?relations, etc..?

Wang Chao appreciated?PARLACEN’s?adherence?to the one-China principle?and hoped?that the two sides would maintain cooperation?on this basis. Wang said, CPIFA would like to join hands with PARLACEN to implement the five programs?proposed?by President Xi Jinping to jointly pursue common development and revitalization and to build a China-LAC community with a shared future.

Hernandez said that LAC-China?cooperation?has brought tangible benefits to the people of LAC countries, and with the five programs, new progress?will be achieved in LAC-China?relations. PARLACEN?is willing to maintain exchanges and cooperation with CPIFA?to promote mutual understanding and friendship among the peoples.

The PARLACEN delegation?consists of members?from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama and the Dominican Republic, including?Vice President Guillermo Daniel Ortega Reyes, Mr. Engels Martin Pineda Garcia, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Immigration Committee, and Madame Querube Del Carmen Henriquez Urieta, Chairperson of the Macroeconomic and Finance Committee, etc..??
