CPIFA Vice President Zou Xiaoli Meets with Former Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr

On September 4, Ambassador Zou Xiaoli, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), met with former Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr. The two sides held a friendly and cordial conversation on a variety of topics.

Ambassador Zou appreciated Mr. Carr’s visit to China to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War together with the Chinese people and numerous international dignitaries and friends. Ambassador Zou expressed that the CPIFA stands ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Australian institutions to promote a mature, stable, and fruitful China-Australia relationship.

Mr. Carr said that the commemorative event held by China is of great significance, noting that China was one of the main battlefields in World War II and made important contributions to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. He looks forward to Australia and China establishing a more mature and stable relationship.

Prior to the meeting, Mr. Carr attended the Foreign Affairs Journal Dialogue held by CPIFA, where he exchanged views with Chinese experts and scholars on China-Australia relations, China-U.S. relations, the regional situation, and global governance. The Chinese participants included Mr. Zhang Junsai, former Chinese Ambassador to Australia, Ms. Guo Chunmei, Director of the Institute for Southeast Asian and Oceanian Studies at the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), Ms. Su Xiaohui, Deputy Director of the Department for American Studies at the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), Prof. Wang Dong, Executive Director of the Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding at Peking University, Mr. Zhou Mi, Senior Research Fellow at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, Mr. Qin Sheng, Associate Professor at the National Institute of International Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), as well as Ms. Zhang Lu, Deputy Secretary General of CPIFA and Ms. Jiang Xiaoming, Director General of the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs of CPIFA. The Dialogue was chaired by Ambassador Zou Xiaoli.
